The SavvyLockers team has another reason to be proud – we have just completed an integration with the Nokē™ Smart Entry access control system by Janus. What is Nokē™ Smart Entry?
Nokē™ is an access control system designed for self-storage facilities. It offers two types of electronic locks: Nokē One (battery-powered) and Nokē Ion (hardwired). Battery-powered locks have been implemented on the facility and unit doors at one of our Polish clients’ sites. This convenient solution allows tenants to unlock doors keylessly using a mobile app.
Integration that Unlocks New Possibilities
Our client, Red Box self-storage in Katowice, operated using a custom-built solution tailored to their facility’s needs alongside the Nokē™ access control system. However, as the facility expanded and customer demands grew, it became essential to automate key processes, such as invoicing, payment processing, online contract signing, and enabling tenants to rent units independently.
In such a situation, SavvyLockers became the natural choice – a comprehensive tool perfectly suited to the needs of modern self-storage facilities, ensuring full automation and seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
Savvylockers and Nokē™ Smart Entry – What Did the Integration Involve?
Our task was to integrate both systems smoothly. The challenge was to combine two distinct tools so they could operate as one – without disruptions or unnecessary complications. As a result, the facility owner can continue using Nokē™, while SavvyLockers handles the essential processes: online rentals, payment processing, customer communication, and more.
With the integration, facility operators benefit from an even higher level of automation, as SavvyLockers synchronises the Nokē™ solution’s real-time access control with billing and rental processes.
It’s worth noting that this integration was carried out on a “live system,” while the facility was operating normally. Our top priority was to ensure uninterrupted operations – and we delivered 100%! Tenants were able to access the facility and their units without any disruptions. The facility maintained its usual rhythm, with new contracts starting and old ones concluding seamlessly.
What Does This Mean in Practice?
SavvyLockers and Nokē™ work in sync to automate access control, ensuring seamless facility management. For a self-storage owner, the most important aspect is that these systems independently handle daily operations, including those related to access control.
What are these operations?
- Blocking a tenant’s access to a unit or facility,
- Unblocking access,
- Creating access credentials for a new tenant.
For example, if a tenant is late with a payment, the SavvyLockers system records this information in its database, communicates with Nokē™, which immediately applies a lock on the door. Seamless collaboration!
What Made This Integration Stand Out?
This project was marked by excellent collaboration on multiple fronts – with our client, who provided crucial data about the facility, and with the Nokē™ team, who supported us throughout the integration process with answers and technical assistance. As a result, the implementation was completed successfully. In just one week, we wrapped up the project and conducted final testing.
- Lightning-fast synchronisation – Data is automatically transmitted from SavvyLockers to Nokē™ within seconds.
- Seamless customer experience – Renting a unit is fully online through the SavvyLockers Customer Panel. The system then automatically forwards information about the new tenant to Nokē™, which sends the customer a message (SMS or email) with a link to activate their app, enabling them to unlock the unit. It’s a simple, step-by-step process.
- No disruption or additional costs – Working with us didn’t require investments in new equipment or changes to existing solutions. Operations continued uninterrupted, and we conducted training to ensure the introduction of a professional management system was smooth and minimally disruptive for the client.
Thanks to this and other integrations, our clients don’t need to abandon the solutions they’ve already implemented. What’s more, we’re open to facilities of any size – regardless of the number of locations or units, the integration timeline remains the same. Future Plans
We are currently working on integrating with gates used in outdoor facilities, which operate via a GSM module. The mechanism is straightforward: the client opens the gate by calling a designated number. If the number is authorised, the gate opens automatically.
